Full Story
Two-way migration between ICX and SODA closes this Friday, September 25, 2026, five days earlier than the September 30 date previously shared.
The earlier cutoff reflects tightened technical and security requirements as ICX's oracle pricing grows more volatile and the asset's remaining liquidity continues to thin.
The final migration deadline of December 31, 2026 is unchanged and will not move. ICX holders should migrate to SODA in self-custody now rather than wait on a centralized exchange.
In the most recent update on the ICX to SODA migration, we confirmed that two-way migration between ICX and SODA would remain open until September 30, 2026, with the migration concluding entirely at the end of the year.
Effective this Friday, September 25, 2026, two-way conversion between ICX and SODA is closing five days ahead of the date we previously shared. The deadline to complete this one-way migration, converting ICX to SODA, is unaffected and continues as planned through December 31.
Why the window is closing early
As the migration has progressed, more of ICX's supply has moved into SODA, alongside reducing support for the asset on centralized exchanges and lingering effects of a recent exploit. These events mean that the ICX that remains has grown thinner and more prone to sharp price swings, which community members still holding or moving ICX will likely have noticed. Closing the two-way window early reduces the exposure of SODAX’s infrastructure to this volatility while assuring that the core migration path, ICX to SODA, remains fully open.
December 31 Remains the Final Migration Deadline
Some members of the community have asked whether this also opens the door to moving the final deadline forward. It does not. December 31, 2026 has been fixed and communicated to every exchange, wallet and partner involved in the migration for months, coinciding with the timeline for the ICON Network to be shut down. Changing this timeline now would introduce the kind of last-minute uncertainty the timeline was set up to avoid.
Closing the two-way window early is a precaution around a pricing mechanism and it carries no risk to ICX or SODA that holders have already migrated or currently hold in self-custody. Moving the final deadline would be a different kind of change, one that unwinds commitments already locked in across the migration and would put holder funds at risk of missing the deadline set.
The full schedule
September 25, 2026: Two-way token migration ends with only ICX → SODA supported.
December 31, 2026: Final ICX → SODA migration deadline and ICON Network shutdown.
If you hold ICX, the next steps are simple:
Ensure you have a small balance of S on the Sonic network for future transactions. You can swap for S on SODA Exchange.
Migrate to SODA on the SODA Exchange by December 31, 2026.
Full step-by-step guidance is available at support.sodax.com.
Balanced users can migrate the same way, through the latest migration widget in the Balanced app.
ICX Holders Should Migrate Now
If you're still holding ICX, your easiest option is to migrate to SODA yourself, in self-custody. At this stage, holders shouldn’t rely on a centralized exchange to manage this process for them and should take steps to complete the migration themselves.
Two-way migration closes September 25. One-way migration continues until December 31, 2026. There's still time to move at your own pace, but please ensure the process is complete before the ICON Network shuts down at the end of the year.
